World Map

I've had some difficulty outlining the next areas of the game. So I finally created my world map, it's helped a lot now that I can decide where to put things, and how the player should progress.

Just for Fun - Old Chapter 0 Title Screen

I was looking through my files and noticed I never posted the first version of my title screen for Chapter 0. It's kind of embarrassing actually...

New Title Graphics

I've been planning very basic outlines for the other sections of the game. But I also went back and redid some of my graphics. Here I present to you the new title screens for Chapter 0 & 1:

Current Updates

I haven't posted anything for awhile now, and don't expect that will change any time soon. I did just post the 'Chapter 3 Script'. I just have a hard time working on something when I don't feel like it... And that is why I'm planning out the whole project first.

I've been playing around with RPG Maker VX a little more (It has been released in English!) and it definitely has it's good sides. Recently I opened RPG Maker XP to mess with the events, and after toying with VX, I didn't want to touch the XP event system. It's many of the same commands, and similar options, but VX is just cleaner and feels easier to use.

Anyway, back on the main topic, Chapter 0-3 complete what I call the "Introduction" part of the game. I've divided the game into 4 parts; Introduction, Item Hunt, Get the Villain, Ending.

Item Hunt is the meat of the game, gathering items, building up your charter, subplots and side quests. Get the Villain is that final part of the game where you get the villain (!). And the Ending is of course the final say.

So what I may do, before I press onward, is polish up the Introduction portion, as I fear I may already have created some loop holes in the story. I even have the bare bones of the ending planed out. The challenge will be to make sure I add enough stuff to the item collecting that you think it's fun.

Chapter 3 Script

Here it is, chapter 3! This script isn't as detailed as the others, I think it would be difficult to handle this one that way. This part of the game is really about reclaiming Luke's memories. Most of the scenes will be flash backs. The people introduced will only serve the purpose of exploring Luke and what he is about. Enjoy, if possible. ;)

The past was just the present only yesterday.

Luke must then return home.

LOCATION: Luke's Home, Torou
WHO: Luke(L), Luke's Father(F), Luke's Grandfather(G)

Luke enters his home to find both his father and his grandfather waiting for him.

G: How did you do.

F: Good? How can this be good, now my only son has to leave to try to save the world!
G: You shut up.
L: ...
L: I brought the package.
G: Well?
G: Open it!

Luke opens the package and receives his starting equipment. Legendary Sword, Legendary Armor, Legendary Boots, etc.. Also inside is a "Green Tunic", but it won't fit Luke, it's too small.

L: I still have some memory issues Grandpa, I kept remembering Mom.
G: You've had 2 pasts Luke. You see, you've already defeated the Black Wizard.
G: But then he went back in time and tried to destroy you. So you had a life with your mother, and a life without.
G: And that's how I know that she's the only good thing that ever happened to my son.
F: That's kinda harsh old man.
G: Look who's talking, besides, I told you to shut up!
G: ...
G: So this time, you make sure he doesn't get another chance.
L: Alright.
L: So what do I do again?
G: You must seek out the Wizards, only their knowledge can help you now.

Luke get together the last of his things, says goodbye, and sets off.

L: Hey! What'd ya mean already?
D: ...
L: And, to top it all off, some buddy called Tea Racknet stole Picklecoo.
L: Oh yeah! And Cristy and Rock are leaving without me.
D: I was hoping to avoid this, but I think I need to tell you something.
D: The reason your no good at MegaMoning is because your really the Hero of All Time.
L: What? That doesn't make any sense.
L: Besides, don't you mean the Hero of Time(c)?
D: No, that's Link. Either way, it's true.
D: The Yellow Wizard knocked on our door shortly after you were born. He said you were chosen as the Hero of All Time.
L: And you never told be this because?
D: Luke! You were happy. Saving the world is to much for a little boy.
D: I told you at first, but after the accident, you forgot all about it, and you discovered MegaMoning.
L: I still don't get it.
D: Besides, I didn't really pay attention to anything the Yellow Wizard said. You should visit your Grandfather.
L: But your my Grandfather...
D: Oh yeah, that was the other thing I was hoping to avoid...
D: Luke... I am your father!
L: What? How?
D: Just visit your Grandfather, he can help you.

D: We'll talk more once you get back.
L: ...

Luke exits Torou by the north exit, and enters "World Map A"

LOCATION: World Map A
WHO: Luke(L)

World Map A has small landmarks, while the player is larger than normal.

The first 1st, 2nd and 3rd step send you into a battle.
The Next 2 steps send you into another battle.
Within the second battle, sometime during the 2nd or 3rd turn, the player gets sent into a boss battle.

LOCATION: Mout Nibb-L
WHO: Luke(L)

The player will have to make their way up, through and around the mountain. Deep within the mountain, there is a forest - don't ask -. The forest is just a maze, at the end of the maze the player will exit back into the mountain. A little deeper into the mountain revels an elevator. The elevator will stop every few floors and a battle will ensue, until eventually a final battle, and then the player will reach the top. The top exits out onto a flat area with Luke's Grandfather's house in the center.

LOCATION: Grandfather's House, Mount Nibb-L
WHO: Luke(L), Luke's Grandfather(G)

Luke enters his real Grandfather's house for the first time ever.

L: Grandfather?
G: Luke? Is that you?
G: So your father finally told you about me...
L: He said you could help me.
G: Sure, what do you need?
L: I don't know.
G: Well, what has your father told you so far?
L: Something about a Yellow Wizard, me bing the Hero of All Time, and about how he is a dirty liar.
G: Perhaps I better start from the beginning then.

(gets up, grabs book from shelf, comes back)
[the book is like a children's storybook, the pictures look like paper cut-outs glued to the page]
Title: The Chosen
Pg1: Long Ago the world was watched of by an ancient race called the Ancients.
Pg2: It is said they were very power full and mysterious. Some even called them Pow-erous.
Pg3: But a time came when something plagued them. And the Ancients began to disappear.
Pg4: The Ancients only worried about who would protect the world in their absence.
Pg5: The Ancients crafted 7 crystals. Each crystal containing the essence to balance a different aspect of life.
Pg6: [Picture of the different crystals]
Pg7: The Ancients also brought to life 8 Wizards whose sole design was to watch over the crystals.
Pg8: There will come a time when an evil will rise. And the Wizards will chose someone to stop said evil.
Pg9: And they will be the Hero of All Time.
Pg10: The End
(puts the book away)
G: Luke, you are that someone. You are the Hero of All Time.
L: I keep getting told that, but what does it actually mean?
G: It means you have a hard road ahead of you.
G: Did you father give you the Yellow Wizards instructions?
L: No.
G: What?!
G: That good for nothing son of mine!
G: Listen, you must visit the Green Wizard, but first you need to open the package the Yellow Wizard brought for you after you were born.
L: Where is it?
G: It's in your old house, where you used to live before you lost your memory.
G: You may have to relive some of your past to remember where it is.
G: Visit your old home town, and find that package. Once you do, return to your father. I'll make sure he tells you the whole story.
L: Thank you.
G: Don't worry about it. Here, take this map, it'll make travel allot easier.

Chapter 2 Title - ver Too

I'm working on the next script, then from there I'm going to expand the general outline. Meanwhile, I had some input about the title screen for Chapter 2, so here is a variation on the same idea. I also made this one "cleaner". Leave a comment on which you like best.

Chapter 0 Script

To make this project easier to develop and to help it work out better than some of my past projects, I've decided to completely plan out everything before I try to actually "make" the thing. I also am splitting it into chapters to help me make each section of game better, because I can work on each piece separately. I also thinks it gives me a little more control over the player without it feeling like I'm controlling too much.

At least that's what _I_ think. :) [Please ignore my ego]

Here is the script for the introduction portion of the game. Comments and questions are welcome.

CHAPTER PROLOGUE - THE THINGS WE DO FOR LOVE

=OUTLINE=
I) Luke Playing with Friends
II) Luke with Grandpa
--A) History Lesson
--B) Go Play

=SCRIPT=
LOCATION: Outside, Torou
WHO: Luke(L), Cristy(C), Rock(R), Seth(S)

Luke is hanging out with his friends talking about all the wonderful things they are going to do.

L: We're gonna be the best trainers ever!
C: I'm so excited!
L: Where do you think we should go first?
C: Anywhere with water, I love WaterMon©. Where do you want to go first Rock.
R: We should go to Mallet Town first. It's where all the great trainers started.
L: I don't care where we go first as long as we visit every gymnasium on the way. I wanna get all 50 badges!
R: We should leave tomorrow morning. Mallet Town isn't that close to here.
Seth walks over and interrupts.
S: Luke, your Grandfather would like to see you before you leave.
L: I'll be right there. // I'll catch up with you guys later.
C: See you tomorrow!

Fade Out/In

LOCATION: Inside Luke's Home, Torou
WHO: Luke(L), Luke's Grandfather(G)

Luke sits on a bench next to his Grandfather's bed.

L: Grandpa, I'm here, what did you need?
G: Luke, how are you doing? You'll be leaving soon.
L: I know, but Seth will take care of you.
G: It's not that. I've just been thinking about a lot. Your mother died 2 years before you were born, it was a miracle you survived. Did you know that?
L: Yes Grandpa, you've told me many times.
G: Listen, you father was a great man, he raised you through those years. But he had to leave you on your own so he could go fight in the war. I haven't seen him since. But something bad happened to the town you lived in. Something very bad. When I heard I rushed to find you. You were the only survivor. The only thing you have from that experience is the scar on your forehead.
L: The triangle shaped scar that I have to cover up so I don't get made fun of?
G: Ignore them, it's a mark of power. Your entire home town, and everyone in it, was destroyed. But not you. Nothing can stop you if you stay determined.
L: Grandpa...
G: Luke, look at you! A 10 year old MegaMon trainer about to embark on a lifelong adventure. Your going to go far!
G: I don't remember my point, but don't forget where you come from. Your history is your foundation. And keep getting stronger, whoever destroyed your home town is still out there somewhere.
G: Now go back out and play while I get some rest.

Unnamed Project Backstory

I really need to come up with a name for this game... But for now, here is the back story. It's very silly, a lot cliche and not very serious at all. I may do some slight tweaks here and there, but this is pretty much final. This information won't be given to the player in this form, it's more of a reference, so when different character that talk about the past, they will talk about similar things.

Anyway; read, enjoy, comment...

Long ago, there lived an ancient race know only as “The Ancients”. Very little is known of them. What is known, however, is just as confusing. For one reason or another (I personally believe that it was another) they began to mysteriously disappear. Knowing that they would soon be unable to watch over the world, they designed something that could. The Ancients created 7 crystals, each holding together the balance of a different aspect of the world, each a different color.

White – The balance of Purity and Lust
Blue – The balance of Self-restraint and Over-indulgence
Yellow – The balance of Giving and Avarice
Orange – The balance of Integrity and Laziness
Red – The balance of Composure and Anger
Green – The balance of Admiration and Jealousy
Purple – The balance of Modesty and Vanity

Then they created 8 wizards to watch over the crystals. The wizards were told to protect the crystals, and to serve the humans. Eventually, the last of The Ancients disappeared, and the wizards were left alone with the crystals.

There came a time when said 8 wizards served under King Dopenboper. But the 8th wizard was just too different. He didn't eat the same things, wear the same clothes... Even his magic style was... “different”. The 7 other wizards weren't trying to be discriminatory (It is against wizard policy 2d-5.2!) but... He really was VERY different. So eventually, as was bound to happen, the 8th wizard decided he would leave, and something regarding them “regretting it”.
Later on, the 7 wizards, being the wizards that they are, foresaw and foretold of the 8th wizard's scheme. The 8th wizard foresaw that the 7 would foretell his plan. But he did not care – he knew they could not stop him. But the 7 put together a plan of their own. They knew someone that could stop him, and completely reverse the 8th's plan. But the 7 didn't know of the 8th's second plan, because he hadn't yet planed it, let alone known of it himself.

The 8th would create himself some minions and kidnap Princess Dopenboper. Then he'd be able to demand anything he wanted from the King. But the 7 would appoint a hero, and when the time came, that hero would rise up and stop the 8th.

Well, he did, and so did he, and that was that. But the 8th didn't agree with the current resolution, and even though he was in a very weakened state, he came up with his second plan. He decided that if he could go back and do it all again, he could decide to not screw it up. And so, as it would happen, the 8th had such a device to allow such a plan. The design of the device would only allow it to make one trip, and the materials needed to build it were so difficult to obtain, it's unlikely he'd ever build another one. But who knows?

Anyway, he used the device, and went back to the start, only this time he sent his minions after the mother of the boy that was chosen, only he captured her two years before he was born. Yet somehow, call it fate – or bad writing, on the same day and time as before, Luke was born. Well, Luke came into existence. Technically, he just kinda appeared. Have you ever heard of the legend of the chosen one, born from no one? But I'm getting off topic here.

It was a strange moment, but everyone had been expecting it, and it seemed strangely normal. Perhaps being chosen by the 7, even in a previous time line, made him too important to not exist. And the 7 chose him again, but things went a little different this time around. And that's what this story is really about. Second chances for all, except Luke's mother – she go not say in it this time.

The 8th didn't know of Luke, didn't really care honestly. He can be quite cold. More relevant is the fact that he didn't act out his plan right away. He needed more time to make the army of minions he had planed out this time. And the 7 foresaw and fore-blah, blah, blah. You know the drill. The point being was the King also had time to prepare this time. He didn't ready just his army, he called for all able to take up arms. Unfortunately this action is what set Luke off his destined path. But he'll find his way back. Hopefully.

Blog Started

Hello world.

I'm joining the bandwagon. But I'm very new to the blogging world, so we'll see how I do. This blog will be used for me to post information about the various projects I'm working on. Stay tuned.
